Modsterpiece: Day 3

Not as Easy as I Thought

Now I’m understanding why John Singer Sargent is considered one of the great painters. All the subtle neuances of the tonal values are difficult to duplicate. I’m just going to try my best and see if I can even get close. I will say that this is going to take longer than I initially intended. I think I am going to have at least thirty sessions before I get it something that resembles the piece.

Today I focused on the face. I’m not even close to having it down, but I think that I have a more accurate rendition of the face. My initial pencil drawing from day 1 looks a little manly in the face. Even though it took a long time with little results, I’m still enjoying my time at the museum.
