Adobe Offsetting: August 2015

I decided to post August’s Adobe Offsetting a week early since I was able to take advantage of Blender’s special discount for the Cosmos Laundromat release on DVD. The Blender team has been working hard this month with a pre-screening of the film and pre-sale of the DVD.

Perks

As a perk to donating to the Gooseberry Open Movie Project and being a subscriber to Blender Cloud, I qualified for a $20 discount on the DVD version of the short film. If you’ve donated over the past year or subscribed to Blender Cloud, you may be eligible for the discount. If you do, make sure you take advantage of the savings before it expires at the end of the month.

Pre-premiere screening

A screening of the short film is slated for next Thursday at the EyeFilm cinema in Amsterdam. There will be two screening and an after party. Gooseberry supporters and Blender Cloud subscribers will get first dibs at seating.

It’s personally fulfilling to know that I contributed in helping make the open film possible. Supporting endeavors like Cosmos Laundromat make it possible for artists and developers to work together—figuring out how to make software like Blender even stronger.

Extras, extras

Along with the 12 minute file, the DVD will include all blender files for creating the moving, a making-of documentary, and tutorials from the art and production team. It’s definitely a chance to continue Blender support while also learning more. I can’t thank Blender enough!

Additional support

As part of my monthly contribution, I am also a subscribing member of the Blender Cloud with a reoccurring monthly donation. If you are first learning Blender, this site is a wonderful resource of videos for learning modeling and animation techniques. They also have access to all the art and assets from their upcoming open-source animation, Cosmos Laundromat.
